Strained lentils
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups brown lentils, picked stones, washed, drained
1/2 cup rice, soaked for 1 hour
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Put lentils in a pot, cover with water, bring to a boil over high heat.
Cover.
Simmer for 1 hour and 30 minutes till cooked.
Process with liquid into a puree.
Put lentil puree in a pot, add rice, salt and 1 cup water.
Cover.
Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes.
Fry onions.
Add to lentil mixture.
Lower heat.
Cook for 15 minutes till rice is tender.
Pour in serving bowls.
Serve cold with salads.
