Chicken with paprika recipe

Recipe ingredients

  • 750 g, 24 oz, chicken, quartered
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup shortening or butter
  • 1 cup finely chopped fresh coriander
  • 1 teaspoon salt, as desired
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, as desired
  • Sauce (Shakshouka):
    • 750 g, 24 oz, tomatoes, peeled and finely chopped
    • 750 g, 24 oz, green bell peppers, grilled, peeled, finely chopped
    • 1 cup finely chopped parsley
    • 1 cup finely chopped coriander
    • 4 cloves garlic, crushed with a dash of salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground chili, as desired
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice, as desired
    • 1 teaspoon salt, as desired
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, as desired

Recipe method

  • Fry onions with shortening in a pot over medium heat.
  • Add chicken, coriander, garlic, salt, black pepper and water.
  • Stir, cover and cook for 45 minutes or till tender.
  • Sauce:
    • Mix green pepper, tomatoes, garlic, coriander and parsley.
    • Fry, stirring, over medium heat for 30 minutes.
    • Add allspice, black pepper, salt, cumin and chili.
    • Bring to a boil.
    • Cook till thick.
  • Serve fried chicken with sauce.
