Green bean stew recipe

Recipe ingredients

  • 1 kg, 32 oz, green beans, string, snip off the ends, snip each into two, wash and drain
  • 750 g, 24 oz, stew lamb cutlets
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 2 tablespoons shortening or butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups water

Recipe method

  • Fry meat with shortening over medium heat till brown. Season.
  • Stir in green beans for 15 minutes on low heat.
  • Add water, salt and pepper.
  • Cover and cook on medium heat until boiling.
  • Lower heat. Continue cooking until beans are tender.
  • Serve hot accompanied by cooked rice.
