Walnut scones
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup butter
2/3 to 3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
Preparation:
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets.
In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Blend well.
Using fork or pastry blender, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add buttermilk and walnuts. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Drop by heaping teaspoonsful 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.
Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
Immediately remove from cookie sheets. Serve warm.
