Picadillo
Ingredients:
1 pound lean beef, chopped coarse
1 medium onion, chopped fine
2 large fresh tomatoes, peel, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 tablespoon vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch cloves
1/4 teaspoon cumin, ground
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup seedless raisins
1/2 cup almonds, blanched, slivered
Preparation:
Brown meat over medium heat.
After meat begins to cook and some of the fat begins to cook out, add the onion.
Cook until onion is translucent.
Drain off excess fat, if any.
Add all remaining ingredients except almonds.
Simmer for about 30 minutes.
Add the almonds just before serving. Use as garnish for top of dish.
