Tamale pie
Ingredients:
2 pound ground beef
12 ounce tomatoes
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
3 1/2 ounce (1/2 7 ounce can) green chilies
Topping:
- 1 cup grated mild cheese
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup unbleached flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Dash salt
2 teaspoon oil
2 teaspoon sugar, optional
1/2 cup milk
Other half green chilies
Preparation:
Brown meat in skillet.
Add remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes.
Pour into a casserole.
Top with cheese.
Mix rest of ingredients together and pour over the top of meat and cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes or until topping is done.
