Kentucky hot brown soup
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/4 cup minced onion
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
4 cups milk
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped cooked ham
1/2 cup chopped cooked turkey
Toppings: crumbled bacon, chopped tomato, chopped fresh parsley
Preparation:
Melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add onion. Saute until tender.
Add flour, garlic salt and hot sauce. Cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
Gradually stir in milk. Cook until thickened and bubbly.
Reduce heat. Stir in cheese until melted.
Add ham and turkey. Cook, stirring occasionally, until heated (do not boil).
Serve with desired toppings.
