Ingredients

  • ½ kg Prawns
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic finely sliced
  • 1/2 tablespoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon pepper powder
  • 1 medium Cambodge / Kodampuli
  • 1 sprig  Curry Leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Making the Masala
  • 1 cup medium sized shallots
  • 1  teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 4  tablespoons Coconut bits finely sliced
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  • 1Wash and clean the prawns, keep it aside.
  • 2Mix all the marinating ingredients like turmeric powder, Kodampuli, pepper powder, ginger, curry leaves and salt.
  • 3Mix the prawns with the above Ingredients.
  • 4Cook the marinated prawn pieces in a pan, cover the lid of the pan while cooking.
  • 5Add 1-2 tablespoon of water to it and make sure the prawn pieces are not overcooked.
  • 6Typically, the prawn pieces will be cooked by the time the water gets evaporated.
  • 7Heat some oil in a deep frying pan and add the shallots.
  • 8Saute it in a low flame and when it attains a light golden brown color, add the spice powders like chili powder, garam masala, and coriander powder.
  • 9Saute it really well and add some oil as per the requirement add coconut bits.
  • 10Sprinkle some salt for the taste and cook it for further 5 minutes.
  • 11Using a long-handled ladle stir the contents in between and when the contents are fried enough, transfer it to a serving bowl.
  • 12Garnish it with some coriander leaves.
  • 13Serve it hot with rice or chapati.
