Kerala Masala Dosa Recipe - Dosa is famous breakfast dish in India with potato/beetroot/carrot and served with coconut chutney and sambar. This is a simple South Indian masala dosa recipe.  A dosa is South Indian, made from rice batter and black lentils. Dosa with masala is made from rice, lentils, potato, methi, and curry leaves, and served with chutney and sambar.

Ingredients

    Ingredients For Dosa
  • 1 1/2 cups rice
  • 1/2 cup urad dal
  • salt to taste
  • Oil
  • Ingredients For Masala
  • 3 large potatoes
  • 2 medium onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon yellow split peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 3 green chili
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt to taste

Directions

Steps For Dosa

  • 1Separately soak rice and urad dal at least 6 hours or overnight in water.
  • 2Grind to paste.
  • 3Mix together, add salt with water to make the batter.
  • 4Leave at room temperature overnight.
  • 5Mix onion and chilies into the thin batter.
  • 6Heat pan or griddle with little ghee or oil.
  • 7Spread the mix on the pan in circular motion to make thin Dosa.
  • 8Cook on both the sides, if desired.
Steps For Masala

  • 1(Spicy Filling): Heat oil. Add mustard seed, peas, onions and spice.
  • 2Fry for about 5 minutes on medium heat or/until onions are turned into golden brown
  • 3Add potatoes and mix and cook some more.
  • 4Add filling inside dosa shell and roll. Serve hot with chutney.
